Intro Video
“Resistance” by Powerflo
Ring Area
Shayna Baszler heads to the ring. Baszler starts talking about Nikki Cross when Cross interrupts and heads to the ring. The two women face off, and Baszler reminds Cross that she is the champ. Cross barely moves, and Baszler wonders if she’s crazy. Baszler throws the mic at Cross, and Cross dares Baszler to put her to sleep. She begs Baszler to do it. Cross then steps toward Baszer which causes Baszler to flinch and drop her title belt. A brawl breaks out in which Cross eventually gets the better of Baszler.
Match 1
TM61 vs Mike Hugely & Robbie Graham
(referee: DA Brewer)
Result: Shane Thorne pins Robbie Graham after a forearm to the back of the head
Time: 2:16
Match Thoughts
Squash, but I still like the new attitude of TM61.
Ring Area
After the match, Nick Miller says that TM61 has proven that they’re the best team in NXT. Thorne says all the teams in NXT should kneel down and call them “The Mighty.”
Video
Earlier this week, Lars Sullivan threw around a bunch of rookies.
Match 2
Roderick Strong (NXT Tag Champ) vs Danny Burch
(referee: Darryl Sharma)
Result: Roderick Strong wins via pinfall after a backbreaker
Time: 5:43
Match Thoughts
Good match. This was about as hard hitting as you would expect from these two, and it was highly energetic. Of course there were some shenanigans when Lorcan, Dunne, Cole, and O’Reilly all got involved at ringside, but that was kind of expected.
Ring Area
After the match, Pete Dunne attacks Roderick Strong, but Kyle O’Reilly helps Strong avoid much damage. Strong hits Dunne with End of Heartache before the Undisputed Era leaves the ring area.
Backstage
EC3 interrupts a photo shoot for Kassius Ohno. EC3 says Ohno is not in the top 1%, and Ohno says EC3 is close to being 99% unconscious. EC3 isn’t ready for a fight right now, so Ohno gives EC3 a week to prepare. The challenge is accepted.
Video
A package video for Aleister Black versus Lars Sullivan.
Video
Ricochet is much more than just a kid who can do flips. Velveteen Dream is blessed.
Match 3
Lacey Evans vs Kairi Sane
(referee: DA Brewer)
Result: Kairi Sane wins via pinfall after the Insane Elbow
Time: 6:29
Match Thoughts
Good match. I think this feud has been good for both women, and I think it’s been really good for Kairi. Kairi showed that she can overcome and persevere, and she showed that she can fight angry and win. This feud felt more involved than anything Kairi has done in NXT so far. Really, it felt that way for both women. That’s a good thing.
Ring Area
Tommaso Ciampa heads to the ring. Ciampa is disgusted by the crowd. He also talks about how Johnny Gargano nearly crippled Candice LeRae, which, of course, was due to no fault of Ciampa. Ciamps then promises that the Gargano fairy tale will come to an end at Takeover. Ciampa puts Gargano in the Gargano Escape, thus ending the fight.
But not really. Gargano recovers before the show ends and attacks Ciampa again, busting Ciampa open on the stage. Gargano puts a bloodied Ciampa in the Gargano Escape as the show ends.
Show Impressions
This was a good show. I like the building ferociousness in Gargano, I like the energy building between the Undisputed Era and their opponents, and I liked the rubber match between Sane and Evans.
Match of the Night
Kairi Sane vs Lacey Evans
This was a good finish for their feud. Assuming it’s finished.
