Match 1
Heavy Machinery vs Steve Cutler & Wesley Blake w/ Jaxson Ryker
(referee: Eddie Orengo)

Show/Hide Results

Result: Otis Dozovic pins Wesley Blake with a pop-up powerslam
Time: 8:25

Match Thoughts
Very good match. I thought this might be a dominant win for the fairly new team of the Forgotten Sons, but what we got was a very competitive match. It built up well as it went along, and there were some big and impressive moves in the second half of the match. Tucker Knight also showed some impressive agility. In the last few minutes, there were more than a few times when I thought the match was about to end, but it kept going. This was fun.

Outside the Performance Center
Candice LeRae doesn’t want to talk about Johnny Gargano. What she does want is a match with Nikki Cross.

Backstage
Cathy Kelly asks Shayna Baszler (flanked by Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir) about Kairi Sane and her rematch. Baszler is tired of talking about Kairi Sane.

William Regal walks up and informs Baszler that she will be defending her title against Sane at Takeover: War Games, and it will be two out of three falls. Baszler is not pleased.

Match 2
Dakota Kai vs Taynara Conti
(referee: Tom Castor)

Show/Hide Results

Result: Dakota Kai wins via pinfall after the Kai-ropractor
Time: 4:50

Match Thoughts
Good match. Dakota Kai was doing well until the aggressiveness of Conti got the better of her. Conti used a few throws and some holds to ground Kai, but Kai came back with a series of kicks. This was fun, and both women looked good.

Backstage
Cathy Kelley welcomes Mia Yim. Yim is enjoying her time here so far, but Bianca Belair interrupts. Belair doesn’t respect Yim, and she reminds everyone that she is still undefeated.

Backstage
Matt Riddle and Keith Lee are happy, but Kassius Ohno wants to t to break them.

Video
A look at this year’s War Games match between Undisputed Era and the team of the War Raiders, Pete Dunne, and Ricochet.

Selfie Promo
Johnny Gargano explains that he attacked Aleister Black because he got in between him and Tommaso Ciampa. Gargano is same Johnny Gargano that he’s ever been, and he’s the hero of this story. Maybe he deserves a kick from Aleister for what he did, but Gargano is not afraid of Black. Gargano is in a dark place right now, and he kind of likes it.

Backstage
William Regal says there will be a match next week to decide who gets an advantage in the War Games match.

Match 3
Velveteen Dream vs Lars Sullivan
(referee: DA Brewer)

Show/Hide Results

Result: Lars Sullivan wins via pinfall after the Freak Accident (and a distraction from Tommaso Ciampa)
Time: 9:00

Match Thoughts
Good match. Dream started off very strong and very aggressive. As the match went along it became more even, but Dream looked very strong throughout. The finish involved some buildup for Dream’s title match against Ciampa, and despite the shenanigans, this was a good match for Dream. The shenanigans did add a little intrigue to their match.

Ring Area
After the match, Tommaso Ciampa sets up Velveteen Dream for an attack, but Dream counters, hitting Ciampa with a twisting DDT on the title belt. Despite referees trying to stop him, Dream also hits Ciampa with the Purple Rainmaker.

Show Impressions
I liked this show. All the matches were good, and the story bits got me even more excited for War Games.

Match of the Night
Heavy Machinery vs Forgotten Sons
The main event was good, but the finish wasn’t terribly satisfying. The opening tag match was a lot better than I expected, and that’s probably a big reason why I’m picking it tonight.
