Match 1
The Brian Kendrick vs Sunil Singh w/ Samir Singh
(referee: Danilo Anfibio)
Result: The Brian Kendrick wins via submission with the Captain’s Hook
Time: 5:04
Match Thoughts
Good match. Sunil played around at first, but Kendrick pushed him to actually fight. I liked the match, and I enjoyed the quick finish.
Ring Area
After the match, Samir Singh attacks Kendrick. Sunil joins his brother, but Akira Tozawa quickly runs to the ring and clears the Singh brothers from the ring. Tozawa helps Kendrick get back to his feet.
Video
Humberto Carrillo sits down and talks about how it’s been tough adjusting to life in America, but he’s happy to be chasing his dream.
Match 2
Gentleman Jack Gallagher vs Devin Justin
(referee: Mike Chidoda)
Result: Jack Gallagher wins via pinfall after a headbutt
Time: 3:34
Match Thoughts
This was a squash, but it was fun watching Gallagher tie up and pick apart Justin. Near the end of the match, Mike Kanellis jumped the barricade and starting throwing stuff around at ringside. Kanellis yelled about ruining Drake’s show since Drake ruined his life. Drake Maverick came out to the stage and sent Danilo Anfibio and Sonjay Dutt to make Mike go away. After that, Justin tried to get a win on Gallagher, but Gallagher ended the match quickly.
Backstage
Drake Maverick wants to speak with Mike Kanellis. Drake tells Mike that he’s sorry that he hasn’t been as present on 205 Live as he should have been. Drake knows Mike is frustrated, but he can’t take out his frustrations on everyone else. Mike tells Drake that Drake ruined his life. Drake says he’s still the GM and he’s going to have to fine Mike for his actions. Mike is incredulous. Mike tells Drake that he’s competing in Drake’s ring next week, and Mike can’t wait to see what kind of fine Drake will have to give him then.
Match 3
Anything Goes Match
Oney Lorcan vs Ariya Daivari
(referee: Danilo Anfibio)
Result: Oney Lorcan wins via pinfall after a superplex through two tables
Time: 20:58
Match Thoughts
This was a lot of fun. There was a lot of housekeeping with both men setting things up more and more as the match went along, but the payoffs were always worth it. Lots and lots of weapons were used, so that was fun as well. I think the best energy was early in the match because they were both angry and just trying to throw themselves at each other. The latter portions of the match were mostly about setting up and delivering huge moves in an attempt to finish each other off. I liked this.
Video
A look at the friendship and eventual feud between Tony Nese and Drew Gulak.
Show Impressions
This was a very good show. The grudge match main event was fun, the opener set up what will be a good tag match (if not more), and the squash was entertaining while including a nice story segment.
Match of the Night
Lorcan vs Daivari
I don’t think it was the best feud payoff on 205 Live ever, but that’s a very high bar. This match was highly entertaining.
