“Hail to the Crown” by CFO$ featuring From Ashes to New
Match 1
The Brian Kendrick & Akira Tozawa vs The Singh Brothers
(referee: Danilo Anfibio)
Result: Akira Tozawa pins Sunil Singh after Sliced Bread #2 (Kendrick) and a diving senton (Tozawa)
Time: 5:45
Match Thoughts
This was fun. It was maybe a little shorter than I’d like it to be, but it still made me happy. Tozawa and Kendrick are a fun team to watch, and so are the Singh Brothers. Hopefully the Singhs can get some wins at some point, but for now I’m enjoying their antics.
Video
A look at Humberto Carrillo. He wants to fight Drew Gulak, and he wants to become the Cruiserweight Champ.
Backstage
Lucha House Party tells Sarah Schreiber that they’re proud of the lucha influence present in the cruiserweight division. Lince Dorado would like to have a match with Humberto Carrillo. Dorado says he represents the lucha libre heritage while Carrillo just talks about it. Kalisto doesn’t really agree with Dorado, but he doesn’t say much about it.
Match 2
Ariya Daivari vs Lince Dorado w/ Kalisto, Gran Metalik
(referee: Dan Engler)
Result: Lince Dorado wins via pinfall with jackknife cover
Time: 9:42
Match Thoughts
Very good match. Daivari was unusually confident after just now having returned after losing to Oney Lorcan in a tough loss a few weeks ago. Daivari’s confidence and Dorado’s tenacity helped propel Dorado through this match. This was a good fight between two guys who seem like they want to prove themselves. There were some really nice exchanges and some crisp moves from both men. I liked how the finish kind of leaves things open for another match if they want one.
Backstage
As Mike Kanellis prepares for his match, Maria walks by and shows him her 24/7 Title.
Backstage
Drew Gulak will be watching tonight’s main event very closely. If Mike Kanellis wins, then he’ll have to step to Drew Gulak. If Mike loses, then Gulak is going to have to wait even longer for someone to step to him.
Ring Area
As Drake Maverick heads to the ring for the main event, Mike Kanellis attacks him. Kanellis beats up Maverick on the stage and ramp before finally making it to ringside. Kanellis throws Maverick into the LED board on the side of the ring. Kanellis enters the ring and proclaims himself the winner by forfeit since Maverick obviously can’t get into the ring. Maverick does make it into the ring however, and the match begins.
Match 3
Unsanctioned Match
Drake Maverick vs Mike Kanellis
(referee: Ryan Tran; watching in the back: Maria Kanellis)
Result: Drake Maverick wins via pinfall with a springboard cutter
Time: 12:51
Match Thoughts
Very good match. The drama was high in this fight. Kanellis destroyed Maverick for a long time to start the match, and the beating got fairly brutal at times. Kanellis seemed more interested in punishing Maverick rather than pinning him though. Not putting Maverick away allowed Maverick to get some sporadic offense late in the match. Kanellis also pushed Maverick too far, and Maerick’s anger allowed him to push through some of the pain he was feeling. This was a lot of fun, and it was a great culmination to this feud.
Show Impressions
This was a great show. All three matches were very good and made this show feel important.
Match of the Night
Drake Maverick vs Mike Kanellis
I think this match was worth the wait considering how long Mike and Drake have been going at each other.
