Studio
Tony Shiavone and Cody welcome us to tonight’s episode of AEW Dark. They announce that there will be a tournament to crown the first-ever AEW TNT Champion coming up. The tournament will be single-elimination, and the left side of the bracket will begin with Shawn Spears versus Cody, and Sammy Guevara versus Darby Allin. The right side of the bracket will be revealed on Dynamite tomorrow night.

Match 1
Matt Sells vs “Spanish God” Sammy Guevara
(referee: Aubrey Edwards)

Show/Hide Results

Result: Sammy Guevara wins via pinfall with a burning GTS (Argentine backbreaker rack dropped into a knee strike to the face)
Time: 5:29

Match Thoughts
This probably should have been a squash for Guevara, but his arrogance and showboating allowed Sells to get in some decent offense. Guevara never really took the match seriously, but he did hit some big moves as the match went on.

Ring Area
After the match, Sammy Guevara gets on the mic and brags about himself. He says he’s the best at everything. If anybody wants to test him, they should try it.

Match 2
Shawn Dean vs “The Chairman” Shawn Spears
(referee: Aubrey Edwards)

Show/Hide Results

Result: Shawn Spears wins via pinfall after a running Death Valley Driver
Time: 3:40

Match Thoughts
Pretty much a a squash. Spears fooled around a little which let Dean get a little offense, but that didn’t last long. This was a strong performance for Spears.

Match 3
Preston Vance vs Darby Allin
(referee: Aubrey Edwards)

Show/Hide Results

Result: Darby Allin wins via pinfall after the Coffin Drop
Time: 5:19

Match Thoughts
Good match. Vance attacked Allin before the opening bell, and that set up Allin for an underdog fight. I didn’t really expect that, but Allin is sometimes at his best when it feels like he’s desperate, so it makes perfect sense. Vance had some nice offensive sequences, and that helped Allin to look even better. This was fun.

Match 4
Faboo Andre vs Jon Moxley (AEW World Champ)
(referee: Paul Turner)

Show/Hide Results

Result: Jon Moxley wins via submission with an STF
Time: 1:01

Match Thoughts
Squash.

Ring Area
After the match, Jake Hager attacks Jon Moxley. Hager puts Moxley in a head and arm triangle. No one comes out to help the champ, so Hager nearly puts Moxley to sleep before deciding to let go. Hager walks away as Moxley struggles to get to his feet.

Show Impressions
This was another fun local talent episode of Dark. I enjoyed that they put in a little bit of story with Hager attacking Moxley.

Match of the Night
Preston Vance vs Darby Allin
This was the most competitive match tonight.
