Intro Video

Ring Area
In the ring, ring announcer Shaul Guerrero introduces Madusa. From the stage, Madusa briefly talks about The Deadly Draw tournament.

Backstage
Earlier today, Dasha Gonzalez welcomed the Nightmare Sisters, Brandi Rhodes and Allie. They’re disappointed that the teams for the tournament are based on a draw and that they probably won’t be able to compete together. Brandi draws first, and she gets red. As Brandi distracts Dasha by talking about the color red, Allie looks into the draw bucket and picks out the red chip. Then she acts shocked that she and Brandi picked the same color.

Backstage
Earlier today, Dasha Gonzalez welcomed Penelope Ford and Kip Sabian. Ford draws baby blue. Mel walks up, because she also drew baby blue.

Match Thoughts
Pretty good match. Allie and Brandi have a dysfunctional team, but their dysfunction actually benefits them in believable ways. Allie cheats and distracts (seemingly) without Brandi knowing, and that allows Brandi to continue fighting honorably despite getting an unfair advantage. I think Ford and Mel were the better team as far as fighting goes (and I’d like to see them team up more than just tonight), but the Nightmare Sisters have luck, deviousness, and momentum on their side. I think this was a fine first match of the tournament. Oh yeah, and I also enjoyed that the commentators made a point to remind up about the small amount of history Brandi and Mel have with each other as part of the Nightmare Collective.

Result: Anna Jay pins Ariane Andrew after a somersault cutter, AnnaJay and Tay Conti advance to the semifinals
Time: 8:50

Match Thoughts
Good match. I already really like the team of Anna Jay and Tay Conti. They worked well together, and they were both strong individually. There were problems on the other side of the ring though. Nyla Rose seemingly had little interest in teaming with Ariane Andrew. Rose wouldn’t even tag in early in the match. Instead, Rose waited until she wanted to enter the match a little later on, and she came in without being tagged at all. Rose would tag in legally after that, and she did well, but the teamwork of Jay and Conti wore her down. That left Andrew pretty much alone late in the match, and that was a problem.

Ring Area
After the match, Nyla Rose attacks Ariane Andrew while Vickie Guerrero laughs.

Backstage
Alex Marvez welcomes the Nightmare Sisters. Tonight, Brandi realized that she’s a huge deal in AEW. Allie takes a little offense to Brandi taking all the credit for their match. Brandi essentially tells Allie that being friends with such a big deal (and the AEW Brand Manager) has its benefits.

Backstage
Alex Marvez welcomes Anna Jay and Tay Conti. Conti says she and Jay are the prettiest and the most dangerous team in the tournament. Jay doesn’t want to talk about Dark Order.

Show Impressions
I liked this show. It was under forty minutes, and both matches were fun. Plus, I love a tournament.

Match of the Night
Tay Conti & Anna Jay vs Ariane Andrew & Nyla Rose
I hope to see a lot more of Conti and Jay as a team.
