Match 1
TJP vs Humberto Carrillo
(referee: John Cone)

Show/Hide Results

Result: Humberto Carrillo wins via pinfall with a headstand into an Arabian press
Time: 10:21

Match Thoughts
Good match. TJP is a good opponent for Carrillo. TJP shut down a lot of Carrillo’s moves with some nice technical counters, and that forced Carrillo to come up with other types of offense than we’re used to seeing him do. Carrillo still went to the air a lot, but he was also grounded quite a bit by TJP. I really do think TJP should have won though. TJP seemed to be in control the entire match, even when Carrillo was getting some offense. Plus, Carrillo’s Arabian press finisher looks neat, but it doesn’t look very impactful. I think he should have done something else to finish off someone like TJP.

TJP seemed unusually happy in this match. He didn’t seem to have any cares or worries, and that’s probably because it was announced a couple days after this match that WWE had come to terms with TJP over his release. Maybe TJP knew he was being set free, so he was just trying to make the best of his last match.

Match 2
Johnny Lyons vs Ariya Daivari
(referee: Danilo Anfibio)

Show/Hide Results

Time: 1:26

Match Thoughts
Squash. Daivari made short work of Lyons.

Match 3
Mike Kanellis w/ Maria Kanellis vs Cedric Alexander
(referee: John Cone)

Show/Hide Results

Result: Cedric Alexander wins via pinfall after the Lumbar Check
Time: 17:36

Match Thoughts
Very good match. This was more of a war than I expected it to be. Kanellis clearly wants to get a win, and Alexander clearly wants to get back to the top of the division. Both men needed this win, and they fought hard. Kanellis had some good counters to keep Alexander off balance warly in the match, and a slip off the top rope for Alexander gave Kanellis an opening to dominate a good part of the match. Alexander’s fighting spirit can never be discounted though, and that pushed ALexander to keep going even when it looked like Kanellis was closing in on a win. I really enjoyed this fight.

Backstage
Drake Maverick announces that, next week, Kalisto with face Tony Nese and The Brian Kendrick will face Drew Gulak in two fist-round tournament matches.

Show Impressions
Good show. Next week is when 205 Live’s road to Wrestlemania really starts, but this show was a good way to get people excited for the upcoming tournament.

Match of the Night
Mike Kanellis vs Cedric Alexander
Both men have a certain trajectory in their 205 Live career right now, and it was very interesting seeing those trajectories clash tonight.
