As listeners of the Wrestling House Show know, we are huge fans of female pro wrestlers. Since I’ve been making it a point to watch NXT regularly there has been one young lady in particular that stands out to me. Her name is Paige and even though I’ve only seen her wrestle a few times, she seems to be a solid performer and has that unique factor that just makes you want to see more of her.
I searched around to find out more about her history and where she came from and found that while I had never seen her wrestle before NXT, I was familiar with her name. She used to go by the ring name Britani Knight and is the daughter of current Shimmer Champion Sweet Saraya. I am woefully behind with my Shimmer DVD collection but I was aware that Britani and Saraya both have worked for Shimmer. Britani also appeared in the European female wrestling promotion Pro-Wrestling EVE.
Last summer a documentary was aired on BBC television which chronicles the life of her and her family as Britani and her brother try out for the WWE in England. Check it out.
I believe that Paige could be the next break out star from NXT. At 20 years old she is already a seven year pro. With Sara Del Rey training her in Florida along with her obvious natural talent and charisma, she will be the girl to watch on NXT this year. I could see her being called up to the main roster sooner rather than later.
