It was very solid with some great back and forth throughout the duration of the match, and the final segment was really great. Other than the finish which seemed to take a little time to get in the correct positions, this was good. I like how the match developed. Bayley started with a lot of energy, mostly due to her excitement of being in her hometown. It worked well and I understand the point, but personally I felt a little let down. Maybe a repeat viewing removed from the context of the story will help me like it more. The action was great, and I liked the story Joe and Rollins told in the ring. Joe was relentless in his assault on Rollins’ knee, and that played a major role in everything that happened in the match. It was about what I expected. I think it works for the story they’re trying to tell, though I’m not 100% interested in that story. I liked the energy in the match, and I liked the power that was on display. Reigns came in injured, and that worked for the match. It was believable without resorting to any superhuman comebacks. I think that was a good decision.

Ring Area
After the match, Strowman brings the ring steps into the ring and drops Reigns onto them. Reigns manages to walk out of the ring and refuses to be stretchered as the show ends.

Show Impressions
With one glaring and horrible exception, I think this show was good. It was better than I expected. I’m not a huge fan of all the finishes, but I can see where they’ll work moving forward. I wasn’t expecting much from this show, but it has actually made me interested in seeing how some of the fallout plays out over the next few weeks. The one exception to all of this is, of course, the House of Horrors.

I understand that WWE Studios is making all sorts of movies these days, but I don’t tune in to a pro wrestling show to watch a movie. As a wrestling fan, I’ve become very good at suspending my disbelief, but trying to pass off an obviously pre-taped and edited movie as something that is happening right now is never going to work for me. Not when they do it like the House of Horrors. It was horrible.

Braun Strowman’s attack on Roman Reigns a few weeks ago on RAW was also obviously pre-taped, but it was actually done a lot better. I can buy that. I can’t buy nearly anything they’ve done with Orton and Wyatt in their feud. I appreciate that they’re trying new things, but this just doesn’t work. Not for me.

And on top of everything, Orton has basically no-sold absolutely everything Bray Wyatt has done. We’re supposed to buy the idea that Wyatt is dangerous and “evil” and magic and whatever, and that he’s a master of mind games, but Randy Orton has not been affected by any of it. Ever. It just doesn’t work as a credible or interesting story. I’m glad they split Orton and Wyatt to different shows. I hope they put all of this behind Wyatt and go in a different direction with him.

Match of the Night
Seth Rollins vs Samoa Joe
I nearly picked the US Title match instead of this, and I think all of the matches on this show were enjoyable except for the House of Horrors, but I think Rollins vs Joe was the most compelling.

Payback 2017 had a number of good matches, and one match that will go down in history as unwatchable (in my opinion).

[1216,625,297,622
1049,540,329,547,38,511,489,1108,779,820,495,492,65,535,629,379,46,1183,1218,111,469,468,532,514,819,833,135,1110,87,835,513,1169,1212,354,136,1118,834,464,437,1210,170,1111,436,183,1170,921,1208,1209,1109,7,1048,1213,1180,1056,696,836
post-2258","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-payback","category-ppv","category-show-results","category-wwe","tag-adam-pearce","tag-alexa-bliss","tag-austin-aries","tag-bayley","tag-booker-t","tag-braun-strowman","tag-bray-wyatt","tag-calvin-knie","tag-carlos-cabrera","tag-carsten-schaefer","tag-cesaro","tag-chad-patton","tag-chris-jericho","tag-corey-graves","tag-darrick-moore","tag-fit-finlay","tag-funaki","tag-hardy-boyz","tag-house-of-horrors-match","tag-jeff-hardy","tag-jinder-mahal","tag-john-cone","tag-jojo","tag-kevin-owens","tag-marcelo-rodriguez","tag-marco-alfaro","tag-matt-hardy","tag-meng-ai","tag-michael-cole","tag-moti-margolin","tag-neville","tag-obaid-kadwani","tag-payback","tag-ppv","tag-randy-orton","tag-raw-ppv","tag-roberto-figueroa","tag-rod-zapata","tag-roman-reigns","tag-samir-singh","tag-samoa-joe","tag-sean-deng","tag-seth-rollins","tag-sheamus","tag-shez-sardar","tag-shun-yamaguchi","tag-singh-brothers","tag-sunil-singh","tag-tim-haber","tag-wwe","tag-wwe-cruiserweight-title-match","tag-wwe-ppv","tag-wwe-raw-tag-team-title-match","tag-wwe-raw-womens-title-match","tag-wwe-us-title-match","tag-zhan-pomerantsev
["GET
