I really like how they did this whole segment. Tony Nese had previously requested to face Tozawa in a title match, so the commentators were discussing what it would mean if Gulak were to beat Tozawa tonight. That showed some nice intelligence from Gulak. Not only did he show a quiet, brutal side when he attacked Dar, but he worked his way into a match with the number one contender without even asking. Tozawa challenged Gulak (despite Aiden English apparently completely missing that part of the show), and Maverick made the match.

The match itself was very good. Gulak was quiet and methodical tonight. He wasn’t too different than he usually is, but there was probably a bit more of an emphasis on really strong moves and strikes with the l side of his repertoire coming into play a little less. He also hit a superplex from the top rope, something the older Gulak wouldn’t necessarily do very often. I think this match is a very good sign for Gulak. It also didn’t hurt Tozawa. Tozawa went into the match unprepared, so even though his number one contender status is in question, I don’t think it does anything to his believability as a contender.

Backstage
Mike Kanellis hates the idea that he’s not considered the best. He was the best when he debuted, and he’s the best now. Mike showed he’s the best by beating Brian Kendrick. Mike addresses Drake Maverick, telling Maverick to send him the best cruiserweights, because Mike Kanellis is better than the best. Maria smiles.

Backstage
Sarah Schreiber asks Tony Nese about what happened out in the ring. Nese says he doesn’t agree with Maverick making the match between Gulak and Tozawa, but he will let Maverick decide who will get the next title shot. Regardless of who he fights, Nese will be ready.

Selfie Promo
The Lucha House Party says that after they’re done with Lars Sullivan, they’ll give the Singh Brothers the rematch they want.

Match 2
Oney Lorcan vs Ariya Daivari
(referee: Danilo Anfibio)

Show/Hide Results

Result: Oney Lorcan wins via pinfall with a crucifix pin
Time: 15:38

Match Thoughts
Very good match. This was a fight where both men tried to wear each other down. Going into the match I would’ve maybe expected some more striking from both men, and though there was a fair amount of striking, I felt like the match was more about both men trying to outsmart and outmaneuver their opponent. I really enjoyed this match in part because it kind of showed a different side of both men. Also, the finish was very nicely done in a way that totally makes sense and doesn’t make either man look bad. One of them just had a lapse in judgment.

Show Impressions
This was a very good show.
