Dustin seemed energized tonight, and he looked good teaming with the Young Bucks. The Inner Circle worked well together for a while, but Sammy Guevara ended up being a weak link due to his showboating and distracting himself. Guevara opened the door and allowed the Bucks and Rhodes to work together on some chaotic and fun tandem offense. This was a nice, fun way to open the show, though I expect the feud between the Bucks and Santana and Ortiz will get more serious after this.

Match 2
Trent w/ Chuck Taylor, Orange Cassidy vs Rey Fenix
(referee: Bryce Remsburg)

Show/Hide Results

Result: Rey Fenix wins via pinfall after the Black Fire Driver (Muscle Buster into a Michinoku Driver II)
Time: 11:03

Match Thoughts
Great match! Trent was looking to sweep the Lucha Brothers with this match, but Fenix was ready for a fight. There were a lot of great counters and a lot of great, agile wrestling. Fenix took to the ropes as usual, but it didn’t always pay off for him. Trent fought hard and looked great as a singles wrestler. I really like how Trent is getting a chance to shine on his own.

Ring Area
After the match, Trent holds out his hand, but Fenix won’t shake. Fenix shoves Trent, so Trent attacks Fenix. Chuck Talyor tries to get Trent to calm down, but he attacks Fenix again until Fenix rolls out of the ring and walks away.

Ring Area
In the ring, Tony Shiavone welcomes Cody. Cody says the scar on his forehead is a symbol of his failure. A failure to claim the AEW Title, and a failure to keep his family together. After the attack from Butcher, Blade, and Bunny, no one was there to help him get up. If BBB wants a match, then they can have one. Also, Cody needs to have a match with MJF.

Cody insults everything about MJF, saying that he looked past all of that when he made MJF his prot?g?. Cody offers MJF a bunch of stuff including over $50,000 for him to agree to a match with Cody. Cody still believes MJF is the future, but he needs some more education. Cody will educate MJF by beating him up.

Backstage
Alex Marvez asks Joey Janela why he would challenge Jon Moxley. Moxley walks up, looks at Janela, and dismissively says “kids” before walking away.

Video
A Dark Order recruitment video shows an angry internet guy becoming a creeper.

Match 3
“The Librarian” Leva Bates w/ “The Librarian” Peter Avalon vs Nyla Rose
(referee: Rick Knox)

Show/Hide Results

Result: Nyla Rose wins via pinfall after the Beast Bomb
Time: 1:36

Match Thoughts
Squash. Rose shakes Knox’s hand, but then powerbombs Knox through the table. Immediately afterward, Rose powerbombs Shanna on top of Knox and the broken table. Finally other referees come in to check on Knox and Shanna as Britt Baker watches from where she’s been at ringside.

Ring Area
Chris Jericho and Jake Hager head to the ring. Jericho starts off by insulting the home crowd. As Le Champion, he get to pick his opponent, so he made a list. It’s not The List though, it’s The Lexicon of Le Champion, and it’s a list of everyone whom he refuses to wrestle. Moxley is on the list many times.

As Jericho continues to read names, the Jurassic Express come out and head to the ring. Luchasaurus has a mic, but Jericho says next on his list of people he will never wrestle are dinosaurs and little children. Luchasaurus speaks. He says he’s not surprised that Jericho would dismiss dinosaurs. After all, dinosaurs have been marginalized for over 65 million years. Luchasaurus also says that Marko Stunt is more of a man than Jericho will ever be.

Jericho then realizes that Jungle Boy is the person who has come out to challenge Jericho. Jericho says everyone is pulling for Jungle Boy, but Jericho isn’t. Jericho says Jungle Boy couldn’t last ten minutes with him. Jungle Boy says he’s going to kick Jericho’s ass, then a big brawl breaks out. Shida came onto the match as the top-ranked contender for the women’s title, but she had a hard time dealing with Statlander’s power. Statlander’s odd mannerisms threw Shida off a little at first as well, but Shida was able to fight through that. Statlander’s size and strength continued to be a problem for Shida though, and that led to a nicely tense finish.

Ring Area
After the match, the lights go out. A spotlight shows Brandi Rhodes and Awesome Kong. They head towards the ring. Brandi says people are scared of what they don’t understand, so she sheds some light on what she and Kong have been doing. Brandi and Kong are the Nightmare Collective, and they do jobs that no one else has the stomach to do.

Brandi offers Statlander an opportunity to join the Nightmare Collective. Statlander hesitates, so Kong pulls out a knife. As Statlander and Kong stare at each other, a fan at ringside wants to pledge loyalty. The fan is allowed to get onto the ring apron where Kong cuts off most of her hair. Brandi then attempts to shave the rest of the fan’s hair off. Daniels wanted revenge for the attack the Lucha Brothers perpetrated at the start of the tag title tournament. Daniels attacked Pentagon Jr. before the match, and the two men brawled for a while before finally making it into the ring to start the match. The match itself was good. It felt like more of a fight and a grudge match rather than a fast-paced match like you might expect from these two. There were some shenanigans towards the end of the match, so that made it slightly less satisfying, but I still liked it.

Video
The Bunny (with The Blade and The Butcher) says last week’s attack on Cody was just the start.
