In my opinion, this is how you make a debut. Everyone was excited to see FTR, and I think it would have been very easy to just have FTR squash whatever team was first put in front of them. Instead, they did a good job of building up to this match over two weeks, and The Butcher and The Blade looked excellent against AEW’s newest tag team. FTR did what they usually do, which is have a great tag team match with some classic-feeling tactics. They were clearly excited and energized to be in an AEW ring. It felt like The Butcher and The Blade wanted to prove something tonight as well though. Butcher and Blade were working as well as a team as I’ve ever seen them, and they seemed just as energized. They haven’t had the best time in AEW as far as wins go, and they haven’t even wrestled on Dynamite in a long while, so this was kind of a comeback for them. Both teams looked great, and this was a highly entertaining match.

Ring Area
After the match, Tony Schiavone enters the ring to ask FTR a few questions. FTR barely begin to speak when the Young Bucks come out to the ring. The Bucks congratulate FTR on their win, and they thank FTR for helping them out with The Butcher and The Blade a couple of weeks ago. However, Matt Jackson points out that FTR never properly introduced themselves to the Young Bucks, so why don’t they do that now?

Matt says he and his brother have been solely carrying tag team wrestling on their backs for a decade and a half. Nick and Matt hold out their hands for a shake, but The Butcher and The Blade attack the Young Bucks from behind. A brawl erupts, and Jimmy Havoc and Kip Sabian join in the fight. Kenny Omega and Adam Page run out, and the brawl quickly settles down. Omega, Page, The Young Bucks, and FTR are left in the ring, and things seem tense.

Backstage
Dasha Gonzalez welcomes The Natural Nightmares with Brandi Rhodes and Allie. I kind of expected Nyla Rose to go into business for herself and try to get some revenge on Shida after losing the title to her a few weeks ago, but Rose actually worked well as a team with Ford. Rose seemed more intent on winning the match and hurting Shida that way rather than looking for any sort of personal revenge. I liked that, and it made the match more interesting. Shida and Statlander looked good as a team as they usually do, but the teamwork of Rose and Ford plus the interference of Sabian at ringside proved to be difficult for Shida and Statlander to overcome. Both teams had nice sequences of offense though, and this was a pretty evenly fought match. I enjoyed the action quite a lot.

Video
Darby Allin skateboards off a ladder while Tony Hawk watches.

Video
A look at the Roll Model, Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. Baker is tired of Big Swole and her bad attitude, and she belittles Swole’s struggles.

Commercial
This August, the Unrivaled Collection of AEW action figures are coming.

Match 3
Santana & Ortiz & Jake Hager vs Best Friends & Orange Cassidy
(referee: Bryce Remsburg)

Show/Hide Results

Result: Orange Cassidy pins Ortiz with a crucifix pin
Time: 10:12

Match Thoughts
Great match. This was pretty much non-stop action in and outside the ring the entire time. This was an interesting diversion for Best Friends since they have a tag title match coming up during Fyter Fest, but I like how they’re always supporting Orange Cassidy. Jericho has an issue with Cassidy now, so that means the whole Inner Circle has an issue with him, and that leads us to this match. The match definitely had a gang-fight feeling, with everyone just trying to hurt and punish their opponents. Jericho on commentary certainly didn’t hurt either. I’m really enjoying how this Cassidy/Jericho feud is being built.

Ring Area
After the match, the Inner Circle immediately attacks Best Friends and Orange Cassidy. Both guys looked good, and this was a nice back-and-forth match between two guys who could really use a win. Cabana in particular had some really nice counters throughout the match, but his recent lack of confidence started to come through towards the end of the match. Ultimately, thus match was more about Cabana’s story line of being targeted by the Dark Order because of his recent losses, but it was still a strong match for both wrestlers.

Ring Area
After the match, Dark Order (consisting of Stu Grayson, Evil Uno, John Silver, Alex Reynolds, Brodie Lee, and two masked members) come out to the stage. Cabana isn’t sure what to think.

After Cabana leaves, Sammy Guevara tells the production crew to play his music. They do, but they quickly change music as Matt Hardy (in street clothes) comes out to the stage. Hardy tells Guevara that he respects him. Wisely, Guevara leaves the ring.

Video
Joey Janela has some drinks as he laments the fact that he’s lost his direction in AEW. Marq Quen hurt his ankle in a tag match recently, and even though he didn’t show any signs of pain going into the match, Cody focused on Quen’s ankle right from the start. Cody was vicious in his attack, and he hobbled Quen within the first few minutes of the match. That forced Quen to push through the pain, and he had an incredibly gutsy performance tonight. Cody dominated most of the match, but Quen pushed back in the later stages with a series of high-flying moves and some really fantastic counters. Quen did on the the most impressive counters into a DDT that I think I’ve ever seen. It’s a difficult move to even describe, but it was really fun to watch.

With this match and last week’s, the TNT Title is turning out to be something really special. I think it could definitely be a star-making title. And at the same time, it’s really showing multiple sides of Cody. He’s been especially aggressive in these two matches, but he’s still acting very gracious before and after the matches. It’s really interesting to watch.

Ring Area
After the match, Cody helps Quen up, and the two men hug. Quen shakes hands with Arn Anderson as he walks away. With Cody still in the ring, Jake Hager comes out. Hager goes after Anderson, so Cody attacks Hager. With the match Cody just had, Hager easily puts Cody down. Hager picks up the TNT Title belt, but by then Private Party and Matt Hardy have all come back out to the ring. Hager is attacked with chairs and a clothesline that sends him out to the floor.

Hager goes over to the stage where he regroups with Santana, Ortiz, and Sammy Guevara.
