Match 1
Cedric Alexander vs Ariya Daivari
(referee: Ryan Tran)

Show/Hide Results

Result: Cedric Alexander wins via pinfall after a lumbar check
Time: 6:53

Match Thoughts
Good match. Daivari looked good and seemed like he had a decent chance to win this one. At one point Daivari tripped Alexander as he jumped to the top rope causing Alexander to fall violently onto the turnbuckles. The match ended with Noam Dar coming to the ring with Alicia Fox on the phone just like on RAW. It’s a cute bit, but hopefully they don’t run it into the ground.

Ring Area
Austin Aries heads to the ring. Aries says that when it counted the most, he didn’t get the job done. He also says that after months of battling Neville and TJP that he isn’t currently cleared to compete. He’s about to talk about his next move when Tony Nese interrupts.

Nese tells Aries that he should get out of the ring and watch as a premiere athlete performs. Aries should save his dignity and fade into the past. The future is Tony Nese. Aries tells Nese that the last time they faced each other he made Nese tap out. Nese says he doesn’t have time for Aries and gets in his face. It looks like a fight is about to start when Jack Gallagher comes out.

Gallagher tells Nese that if he thinks he can replace Austin Aries then he’s a big joke. Nese is no Aries. Nese goes for a punch, but Gallagher ducks and hits Nese with his umbrella.

Backstage
Rich Swann tells TJP he looked good against Neville last week. Swann started believing in TJP again last week. He says that TJP might have a chop on his shoulder, but TJ Perkins would go out to the ring and handle things the “right” way.

Video
A promo package for Mustafa Ali is interrupted by a special message from Drew Gulak.

Match 2
TJP vs Akira Tozawa
(referee: Dan Engler; watching in the back: Titus O’Neil)

Show/Hide Results

Result: Akira Tozawa wins via pinfall with a diving senton
Time: 11:17

Match Thoughts
Good match. There were some very nice sequences in this one. I thought it did a great job of progressing the story for both guys individually. Neither one overshadowed the other, and both guys look like they will use this match a turning point.

Backstage
Titus O’Neil is happy about the outcome of the last match. He starts singing when Neville walks up. Neville isn’t impressed by Tozawa, but Titus points out that Tozawa just beat Neville’s former pupil. Tozawa is the future of 205 Live.

Show Impressions
I liked the show, but it did feel a little short. Only having two matches this week probably had a lot to do with that. The matches were good though, so I can’t complain. I liked that they mixed things up a bit. The matchups in the cruiserweight division have felt like they’re getting a bit stale, or at least a bit repetitive.

Match of the Night
TJP vs Akira Tozawa
A good match that did good things for both guys.
