Ring Area
Lio Rush heads to the ring. He says it’s “Rush Hour,” and he’s here to make somebody famous. With that said, he issues an open challenge to anyone in the back. Lince Dorado answers.
Match 1
Lio Rush vs Lince Dorado
(referee: Dan Engler)
Result: Lince Dorado wins via DQ when Mike Kanellis attacks him
Time: 9:34
Match Thoughts
Very good match. Rush and Dorado worked very well together and pt on a very fast-paced match. It was back and forth throughout, though Rush did relish the multiple times he had an advantage. Dorado started coming back strong towards the end, and despite a non-finish, I liked this a lot.
Ring Area
After the match, Mike Kanellis continues his attack on Lince Dorado as Maria Kanellis enters the ring. Maria and Mike celebrate with Dorado on his back at their feet.
Selfie Promo
Buddy Murphy says he won’t be on 205 Live tonight because, as champ, he does what he wants. Right now, he wants to stay in his home country. He’ll head back to 205 Live when he’s ready.
Backstage
Mustafa Ali checks on Cedric Alexander. Alexander says he’s fine, but Ali has some concerns. Ali thinks Alexander should take some time, but Alexander wants to get right back into the ring and make a point be defeating Tony Nese.
Backstage
Drew Gulak addresses the situation with Brian Kendrick. Jack Gallagher says it was necessary to separate from Kendrick, and Gulak only regrets that they didn’t do so sooner. Next, Gulak and Gallagher will take out Akira Tozawa. Because no one will stand in their way as they create a better 205 Live.
Match 2
Tony Nese vs Cedric Alexander
(referee: Charles Robinson)
Result: Tony Nese wins via pinfall after a 450 splash
Time: 15:13
Match Thoughts
Great match! There were questions about whether or not Alexander was ready to compete after losing on Saturday and traveling half-way around the world to compete again tonight, and that come through during the match in a lack of focus at times. Cedric looked great like he always does, but he got increasingly frustrated with the referee and with Nese (who has been threating to get on a roll lately). All these factors added up to an exciting match with a lot of strong moves and nice sequences. I could feel the end coming, but it felt like a big deal when it actually happened.
Show Impressions
Good show. Two good matches and a fun debut/return (sort of). I’m excited to see what Mike Kanellis can bring to 205 Live, and I like how they’re handling Alexander after his loss so far.
Match of the Night
Cedric Alexander vs Tony Nese
The finish was more satisfying in this match, and I think there was a lot more emotion involved.
