Match 1
Mike Kanellis w/ Maria Kanellis vs Noam Dar
(referee: Charles Robinson; guest commentary: Maria Kanellis)
Result: Noam Dar wins via pinfall after the Nova Roller (and a kick from Kalisto at ringside)
Time: 3:51
Match Thoughts
This was more about the story of Kanellis versus the Lucha House Party than it was about a proper match between Kanellis and Dar. There wasn’t a lot of action before Lucha House Party came out to make a huge distraction for the end of the match.
Backstage
Akira Tozawa helps Brain Kendrick train by getting him a little angry.
Backstage
Drew Gulak and Jack Gallagher think Brian Kendrick is a cumberground.
Backstage
Tony Nese and Buddy Murphy talk about stuff in a hallway.
Match 2
Hideo Itami vs Levy Cruise
(referee: Danilo Anfibio)
Result: Hideo Itami wins via pinfall after an inverted facelock spun into a single-knee facebreaker
Time: 1:26
Match Thoughts
Squash. Itami demolished Cruise.
Ring Area
After the match, Hideo Itami mounts and punches Cruise. Itami is interrupted when Ariya Daivari comes out and heads to the ring. Daivri stares at Itami for a few seconds, then he joins in the attack on Cruise. Daivari holds Cruise up so Itami can give Cruise a boot. Daivari tells Itami that he respects him and holds out his hand. The two men shake hands, though Itami doesn’t seem quite sure what to think about what just happened.
Backstage
TJP seems frustrated. He tells Drake Maverick to give him one good reason why he isn’t the number one contender. Maverick thinks for a second before telling TJP that, for one, he lost to Gran Metalik last week. TJP says he already beat Metalik in the finals of the Cruiserweight Classic.
Mike and Maria Kanellis walk up, and Mike tells TJP that he’s going to help them take down Lucha House Party. TJP says he already beat all three members of Lucha House Party, and he should be moving on to bigger and better things. Maria reminds TJP of how they’ve helped him recently, so TJP agrees to help them out as well.
Maria tells Maverick that she wants a tag team tornado match. Maverick thinks about it for a second and agrees. The match will happen next week. For now, Maverick just wants everyone to leave his office.
Backstage
Cedric Alexander and Mustafa Ali get ready for the main event.
Match 3
Mustafa Ali & Cedric Alexander vs Tony Nese & Buddy Murphy (Cruiserweight Champ)
(referee: Jason Ayers)
Result: Cedric Alexander pins Buddy Murphy after the Lumbar Check
Time: 13:33
Match Thoughts
Very good match. The team of Ali and Alexander looked good, and even though Murphy put up a very strong fight, Nese seemed to be a few steps behind his opponents. Even so, the match had a lot of back and forth, and Nese and Murphy did manage to isolate Ali for a while. There was one nasty looking fall towards the end of the match when Murphy looked to have slipped when everyone was up in one of the corners, and that led to a decisive finish that was quite fun to watch.
Show Impressions
Despite the first two matches not having a ton of action, this was a good show. There was a lot of story line stuff that I enjoyed, and the main event was definitely worth watching.
Match of the Night
Ali & Alexander vs Nese & Murphy
Despite the slip-up near the end (which they all recovered from nicely), this was quite fun to watch.
