Drake Maverick narrates as he talks about the “controversial” finish to last week’s number one contender match. Maverick has decided that both Akira Tozawa and Drew Gulak won the match, so they will both face Tony Nese in a triple threat at Stomping Grounds. Also, tonight, Lucha House Party will face the Singh Brothers, and Oney Lorcan will face Ariya Daivari.

“Hail to the Crown” by CFO$ featuring From Ashes to New
Match 1
Lince Dorado & Gran Metlik w/ Kalisto vs The Singh Brothers
(referee: Dan Engler)
Result: Sunil Singh pins Lince Dorado
Time: 8:30
Match Thoughts
Very good match. The way this ended, it looks like we’ll be getting some more matches from these teams. I’m completely fine with that. This was fun all the way up until the finish. The finish was fine, it was just a typical WWE-style distraction/schoolboy finish. I’m cool with the result, I just want them to figure out a different way to get the same results. But that’s a minor nitpick in an otherwise very good match.
Backstage
Noam Dar has been in Magaluf, Spain ever since his attack perpetrated by Drew Gulak. He will be ready to wrestle again soon, but he’ll only do so if Drake Maverick can provide him with a safe work environment. Brian Kendrick walks up, and Dar wonders what he’s doing in Magaluf, Spain. Kendrick can’t stay and talk because he has a match in California in about two minutes.
Match 2
The Brian Kendrick vs Russ Taylor
(referee: Charles Robinson)
Result: The Brian Kendrick wins via pinfall after Sliced Bread #2
Time: 2:21
Match Thoughts
Taylor punched Kendrick early in the match, so Kendrick squashed him. This was pretty fun.
Backstage
Sarah Schreiber welcomes Gentleman Jack Gallagher. Gallagher says he has unfinished business with Chad Gable. Mike and Maria Kanellis walk up. Mike tells Gallagher that he should be embarrassed for losing by count out. Mike thinks Gallagher has become dead weight. Maria says management needs people like her and Mike. Mike is done being overlooked, and he’s done with 205 Live being overlooked because of guys like Gallagher dropping the ball over and over again.
Gallagher offers to give Mike Kanellis a golden opportunity to get a black eye in front of his wife next week. Mike is looking forward to it.
Match 3
Ariya Daivari vs Oney Lorcan
(referee: Danilo Anfibio)
Result: Oney Lorcan wins via DQ when Ariya Daivari hits Lorcan with a chair
Time: 10:46
Match Thoughts
Very good match. This was a good fight. The feud between these two is heating up, and it feel like they are building to what is sure to be a great feud-ending battle. Tonight was not the end though. Tonight was about punishment and just trying to pummel each other. I liked it.
Ring Area
After the match, Daivari continues to attack Lorcan. Daivari throws Lorcan onto the announce table where he repeatedly punches Lorcan. Daivari then beats up Lorcan at ringside and up to the stage. Daivari hits Lorcan with a hammerlock lariat before referees try to intervene and get Daivari to leave. Finally, Daivari leaves.
Video
Tony Nese says his start in 205 wasn’t great, but he’s reached the top. Now he will have to face two of the best at Stomping Grounds. The odds are against Nese, but Nese says we can shove the odds.
Video
Akira Tozawa says he is more tenacious than Nese and Gulak, and that will help him become a two-time champ.
Video
Drew Gulak talks about terror. For too long he has tried to make 205 Live better, but now, he is just working for a better Drew Gulak. Call him cold or sadistic or whatever, but after Stomping Grounds we will call him champion.
Show Impressions
This was a good show. The way the matches ended made this episode more of a building episode, but it was still fun. It definitely made me look forward to a lot of things.
Match of the Night
Lucha House Party vs The Singh Brothers
Had the main event ended with a definitive finish, I might have picked that for match of the night. Instead, I think I had more fun overall with the opening tag match.
