Result: Angel Garza wins via pinfall after a sit-out butterfly slam
Time: 7:23

Match Thoughts
Very good match. Both men brough tsome high-energy offense and some unique moves. Garza did seem to be more in-control than Wilde, but they both looked very good tonight. This was a very nice start to the Breakout Tournament.

(referee: Eddie Orengo)

Show/Hide Results

Result: The Street Profits win via DQ when Jaxson Ryker attacks Montez Ford
Time: 2:12

Match Thoughts
Pretty good match, but it was short. There was some confusion about whether or not it was a title match, but it ended up not mattering one way or the other. This match was all about setting up some possible future contenders for the tag titles.

Ring Area
After the match, the Forgotten Sons beat up the Street Profits. After a few seconds, Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan run to the ring. Burch, Lorcan, and the Street Profits clear the Forgotten Sons from the ring.

After the Forgotten Sons leave, Lorcan and Burch pick up the tag titles. They stare at the titles for a while before handing them back to the Street Profits. Burch tells Dawkins to remember that the Street Profits owe them.

Match 4
NXT Women’s Title Steel Cage Match
Io Shirai vs Shayna Baszler (NXT Women’s Champ)
(referee: Eddie Orengo; outside referee: Jessika Carr)

Show/Hide Results

Result: Shayna Baszler wins by escaping out of the door
Time: 13:31

Match Thoughts
Great match! Shirai and Baszler went all out in the cage tonight. This was a fight. Baszler kept trying to ground and submit Shirai, but Shirai kept trying to create distance so she could kick and leap. There were some shenanigans late in the match with Duke, Shafir, and LeRae, but it all added to the match rather than detracted from it. Even with everything else going on, Shirai and Baszler were still the center of everything. The finish was great as well. It was extremely tense, and it allows for more matches later on if they want to continue or come back to this feud.

Ring Area
After the match, Candice LeRae tries to console Io Shirai. Frustrated and angry, Shirai attacks LeRae. Shirai looks like she regrets attacking LeRae, and she leaves the ring. Instead of leaving though, Shirai grabs a chair, returns to the ring, and attacks LeRae again. Shirai then suplexes LeRae onto the chair she set up in the middle of the ring. Shirai smiles before waving at LeRae and leaving the ring.

Show Impressions
I enjoyed this show very much. I’m already liking the Breakout tournament, and the main event was great. I’m very excited for Io Shirai to be a heel. I think it will be great for her, and I also think this will be the big story line that Candice LeRae needs to establish herself in the division as a top contender. LeRae has always had the ability, they just needed to give her a story that will keep her on people’s minds all the time. A feud with Io Shirai can definitely be that story.

Match of the Night
Io Shirai vs Shayna Baszler
This was very well done from start to finish, and even beyond the finish.
