The final episode of the second round brings another set of great matches.
This was essentially a recap of Takeover with a couple of filler matches. That’s not to say the matches weren’t good, they were fine, but they didn’t really mean much.
Two new titles are revealed, a tag title tournament starts, Carmella makes people notice her, and a new number one contender for the World Title is named is a good episode of SmackDown.
Better than last week’s Main Event, this week features a rather slow moving bout between Erick Rowan and Rhyno and a very energetic and surprisingly good match between The Vaudevillains and The Hype Bros.
Despite the unfortunate injury to Finn Balor at Summer Slam, this was a good follow-up show to the PPV. A series of matches took place to determine four contenders who will fight to become the new Universal Champ, a probable new contender for Charlotte’s Women’s Title is introduced, and the Dudley Boyz gave what might be a retirement speech.
This year’s Summer Slam was entertaining, though for the matches that delivered on the hype, there were others that didn’t quite live up to expectations.
Sheamus and Cesaro start their best-of-seven series in a match that highlights a nice warm-up for Summer Slam.
NXT gives Summer Slam a run for its money with another great Takeover with some fantastic title matches.
Jack Swagger faces Bo Dallas and Sin Cara takes on Curtis Axel in a pretty good episode of Superstars.
Round two continues with more great matches!
Since this is the last episode of NXT before Takeover: Brooklyn, this show was basically a really long promo for the event (even though there were a couple of matches).
A pretty good show that does well to build (or at least maintain) some interest in Summer Slam, specifically the big matches.
Kane squashes Ricky Starks and Baron Corbin faces Rhyno in a pretty average episode of Main Event.
The last RAW before Summer Slam was a decent show, though the wrestling suffered for the story lines heading into the PPV.
Sami Zayn takes on Curtis Axel and Jack Swagger faces Jinder Mahal in a pretty good episode of Superstars.
The second round begins in fantastic fashion as Gran Metalik looks to take down the veteran Tajiri, and tournament favorite Kota Ibushi has his work cut out for him with Cedric Alexander.
The matches were short, but things are shaping up nicely for Takeover.
A pretty good show that feels like a minor curve in the road towards Summer Slam.
An entertaining yet strange show. It was 50/50 RAW and SmackDown.
An impromptu US Title match and a cake to the face highlight a pretty enjoyable episode of RAW.
