A brief look at the rise, the fall, and the reformation of The Shield. Tonight, we witness the final chapter.

Ring Area
In the ring, Elias is happy that tonight is the final chapter for The Shield. He’s glad that Dean Ambrose realized there is no future for The Shield. Elias then begins to play a song. After about a verse, Finn Balor interrupts as he heads to the ring.

Balor says he came out here to walk with Elias. Elias invites Balor and the crowd to sing with him. Balor changes the words to Elias’s song, and Elias is not happy about it. Elias attacks Balor.

Result: Finn Balor wins via pinfall with la magistral
Time: 6:33

Match Thoughts
Pretty good match. The action was good, but it was kind of short. The finish was also odd. there was a pin attempt with no kick out, but the referee acted like it was only two. They immediately went for another pinfall and the match was over. There was a breakdown of communication somewhere. Other than that though, I liked the match fine.

Ring Area
After the match, Elias sets back up in the center of the ring with his guitar. Elias intends to finish his song, but the Riott Squad interrupts.

Ruby Riott says she’s sorry, but they all respect Elias so much and they want to sing along with him. Liv says just for tonight they would like to be the Elias Squad. Elias is pleased. Elias starts his song again, but the Riott Squad quickly overtakes Elias’s singing. Bayley comes out to save everyone’s eardrums.

Match 2

Result: Ember Moon pins Ruby Riott after the Eclipse
Time: 7:11

Match Thoughts
Good match. Unfortunately for the Riott Squad, the finish was unsurprising. It really is a shame that on this, the last night of the Riott Squad as a trio, that they couldn’t all compete together and they couldn’t get a win. The Riott Squad, even though they made many women look very good, is one of the biggest examples of wasted potential I can think of in recent years.

The Shield talks about their legacy and going out on their own terms.

Match 3
Drew McIntyre & Bobby Lashley & Baron Corbin vs The Shield
(referee: Chad Patton)

Show/Hide Results

Result: Seth Rollins pins Baron Corbin after a triple powerbomb
Time: 14:26

Match Thoughts
This was fun. I don’t think it topped their Fastlane match, but it was fun.

Ring Area
After the match, Rollins says beating Lesnar for the Universal Title was the culmination of fifteen years of hard work. But his win would not have been possible without his brotherhood with The Shield. Rollins says he will always love The Shield, and his win was for his brothers.

Dean Ambrose says Rollins is an example of hard work paying off. Roman Reigns is an example of overcoming any obstacle. The Shield is about not taking “no” for an answer.

The Shield bumps fists as the show comes to a close.

Show Impressions
This was fine. It felt unnecessary since their Fastlane match was supposed to be their last (and this was basically the same thing), but I don’t blame them for giving people one more final match.

Match of the Night
The Shield vs McIntyre & Lashley & Corbin
Naturally.
